8 Tiny Reindeer (Ages 6-9) - Kids Can Press"...Danesh Mohiuddin has created a verifiable winter wonderland through his visually stunning illustrations. With the book being filled with bright colours and action-packed sequences, children will feel like they are in on the adventure themselves."
Canadian Review of Materials "Bold hues and minimal shading by Mohiuddin (Princess Pru and the Ogre on the Hill) evoke classic comics and complement debut author Tinkler’s physical comedy–filled narrative." Publishers Weekly "Mohiuddin's graphics are vibrant and creative; the illustrations add to the festive feeling of the holiday season and depict Larchmont Quickbuck's ruthlessness well. Readers will enjoy the colorful artwork, the modern play on the story of Santa and his elves, and those eight tiny reindeer. " School Library Journal |
Princess Pru and the Switcheroo (Ages 4-7) - Owl Kids"This comical poke at class and gender expectations features properly boisterous cartoon illustrations ... Tweaks conventions with tongue firmly embedded in cheek."
Kirkus Reviews "Reminiscent of the type of drawing found in graphic novels, the detailed pictures capture the transformations of the characters in a joyful and fascinating manner. Note, as an especially compelling example, the detailed depiction of Pru's playroom, with an intricate bookcase and bins of various toys. A colourful feast for the eyes." Mummy & Me: A Monster's Tale (Ages 3-6)- Owl KidsWhat do a wee wolf and its mummy get up to all night? The young furry narrator shares its version of events in this sweetly scary slice-of-life story. After a good day’s sleep, getting dressed in bandage wraps, doing twilight stretches, and slurping a lunch of midnight stew are all on the agenda. Though the wolf claims to be “a perfectly well-behaved monster,” Mohiuddin’s kinetic illustrations tell the truth, depicting the wee animal crashing through its routines with a whirling-dervish level of energy as Mummy—all glowing yellow eyes, green bones, and free-flapping bandages—exercises true parent-of-a-toddler patience. Later, sunrise signals the wind-down of taking a bath alongside a squidlike creature, chomping off the toothbrush head while cleaning teeth, and reading a book—Hairy Tales—before bed. The message of parent-child unconditional love shines through the chaos, especially during the duo’s stress-relieving dance sequence, which moves from pouty to party. Ages 3–6.
